"Son of a b...."-James 'Sawyer' Ford

« on: May 02, 2006, 10:06:33 PM »

Bless your heart if you can figure out what this article is saying. It seems to be about the SPL2, which really isn't SPL2, but that other cop movie they've been talking about that everyone calls SPL2 but isn't.

http://world.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=zh_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.donnieyen.net%2Fhtm%2Fgnnews%2F20060502265.htm

Donnie says:
Quote
"...I cannot hardly let him go forth to battle. Waits for me to come back by the Kang city, believed seven in August should be allowed to begin shooting this play."

So what's the August 7th dealie and what the heck is supposed to be starting in May? Or was that this and it's been delayed?
Oh, my head! thud

Taking a stab at this and offering that production for Team SPL's new project starts in May, and that they don't anticipate principle photography to start until  7 Aug??

I'll have to let it marinate [aka stab my brain] summo, but that's the initial impression I get...SS2 is on his plate later this year from preliminary reports

Well, yeah. SS2 starts at the end/beginning of the year.

I was just confused because that's a quote from Donnie about being there Aug. 7th, which is quite a way away from May. So, what's which and who's what?

Quote
-- Donnie Yen's Upcoming Crime Movie --
Earlier this year, Donnie Yen lobbied for a US based studio to co-produce the movie with Mandarin Films. With financing from aboard, Wilson Yip and Donnie Yen decided to raise the budget of his new crime movie, often called SPL sequel, to HK$50m. Sammo Hung, who survived the finale fight in the original movie, is unlikely to return. Director Wilson Yip intended to recruit both Aaron Kok and Louis Koo but the former couldn't make it while the latter had already agreed to join the movie, with Donnie Yen personally crafting some nasty combo moves for him. In an interview over the phone, Donnie Yen said, "Actually, this film is not officially SPL sequel, due to copyright issues. I would only be getting the original production to shoot a new crime movie with similar themes.
I will make Louis Koo's fight scenes very exciting. However, ultimately, he is not a martial artist, so, I won't force him do moves that are too demanding. I believe we could begin filming it in July or August, once I return from Cannes Film Festival."   Nanyang Press

Okay, lemme just say 'Aaron Kwok and Louis Koo?!' Wtf? Is Donnie out to prove he can choreograph anyone on the planet and make them look good? I think that's proof right there. I think it must be true. 'Here Donnie. Here are some MA lamos. Do something!'.

Aww, too bad Kwok couldn't make it. NOT! lol Good God.

After SPL I'm just waiting to be surprised. C'mon Donnie, show us whatchu got. gettin_brucey Smiley

Alas, though. I think Johnnie To is holding on to my Lau Ching Wan. cry2

ehh, Louis Koo doesn't make me perk a brow as much as Kwok.  But look what he did with the twins...and how many non MA-background actors there aren't.  One thing's for sure, Donnie'll give it his all crafting the fights.  Should b ean intriguing development to say the least.

Meh. When I read 'Louis Koo' excited about his being choreographed I am not. Excited about seeing him in this film I am not. I probably won't be alone in that. He gives you a shoulder shrugging, 'meh, I guess he's okay' kind of feeling.

I think I'm a knee jerk reactor to a music star acting...and it being worthwhile to watch..but loads of people have pleasantly suprised me.  They won't be my all time favs schooled in theater, but some of them are a nice distraction -l-

after thought, it would seem a lot like Infernal Affairs, but I'd love to see Donnie choreograph Lau tak Wah and Lueng Chui Wai...

He's never worked with Andy, has he?

Hmm, I loves them both but I think Donnie would kill them. Smiley I guess he could take it easy on them.

Man...I'd love to see that threesome just in a room together....knitting....playing battleship...doesn't matter.  Add Takeshi Kaneshiro to the mix and I'm on a plane to find that room right now.

Seriously though, that would be an awesome combo of talent.  Speaking of TLCW and ALTW, I've often wondered how DY would fair in something totally arthouse a la Wong Kar Wai.  He can sit around and contemplate clocks and cigarette smoke I'm sure.
