Guk Hin-Chiu is one of Yuen Woo Ping's main co-action directors, if I'm correct.

yeah i think he is, not my favorite person but lets see what happends. Iam not liking what iam reading about the movie like NB had mention (this movies is now nothing like a BOND movie it sounds like the movie Jet LI did with christy i thinks that was her name, the only difference is it's a man they are guarding.

thanks for the post.

Part 1 of 5 of the press conference. Around the 7min mark theres a short promo video shown. Nothing special... in fact, the entire press conference was uninteresting. I only remember Donnie mentioning that he'll be sporting a beard in the movie...

Donnie Yen Longs for Romance in New Film

2009-05-15

Donnie Yen says his new film "14 Blades" will compensate for his unrequited love for Zhao Wei in a previous film.

"Let me embrace 'love' this time," the Hong Kong action star said Thursday at a press conference in Beijing, where director Daniel Lee announced the start of filming.

In the martial-arts film, Yen plays a Ming Dynasty secret agent, who goes through adventures alongside his lover, played by mainland actress Zhao Wei.

Yen and Zhao collaborated in Gordon Chan's 2008 thriller "Painted Skin", in which Yen's character is in love with Zhao's, but the latter is married to another man.

"There were regrets last time around... Let me enjoy a good 'romance' this time," Yen joked.

"14 Blades" also features Brunei-born Chinese singer-actor Wu Chun.

The film is scheduled for release during the New Year season.

lol Donnie has been the Typhoid Mary of movie relationships. He may 'get' the girl, but then one of them dies. Zhao Wei's character better watch it!

Wait a minute. Someone straighten me out here. There's Bodyguards and Assassins right? And 14 Blades? Right? Why is everyone saying that Donnie shaved his head for one of those and here he turns up with a full head of hair? Nightbird is confused. Obviously.

So, I'm not the only one who doesn't know the answer?

You know I've never noticed that but very true

Well he never shaved his head for Bodyguards. He's wearing one of those bald caps which apparently takes 3 hours to apply everyday when shooting

Aha! Thank you, Maz. I've been reading around and everyplace says that he's shaved his head for the role and that didn't make any sense.

Qi Yuwu training for new action film

MediaCorp actor Qi Yuwu will be featured in new action film Imperial Guard, directed by Daniel Lee. In the film, he will be fighting against Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen again.

Imperial guards were like secret agents in the ancient Chinese palaces with complicated identities that made it impossible for one to gauge if they were good or evil. But such "mysterious" characters are always attractive material for movies.

Qi will take the role as an imperial guard with excellent martial arts skills. At the press conference, Qi said his role is somewhat in between a villain and a good man. "No villain will think they are evil. Each of them has a reason why they are bad."

He added, "I've started martial arts training in Hengdian last week and I hope to be able to square off in the fighting scenes."

Audiences can expect to see the results of his training during the Chinese New Year season next year. Other casts in the movie include Wu Chun and Vicky Zhao.

Saw somewhere some time back that Law Kar Ying is playing an eunuch here.

Lau Shun seems to have retired. His evil eunuch portrayal is second to none.

The choice ain't bad, liked her performance in Eye in the Sky. Will probably rival Vicki Zhao in her love affair with Donnie.

I'm hoping to see more martial artists for this movie though.

A news video on the set of 14 Blades. Donnie injured his leg spraining his knee or something. You see him in costume but the crew didn't want to expose it entirely so they blocked his face in the video... Looks abit like Sky in HERO

Ouch! Poor Donnie. He'd better be careful, he doesn't have an uncut eyebrow left now.
