Notifications:
The board enables you to customize your notifications. You can set it so that you’re notified every time there is a new post in a board in addition to subscribing to posts. When viewing the board [Onscreen, Last Dragon, etc] there is a Notify link/button at the top in line with New Topic. Clicking this will subscribe you to that board so that every time there is a new post on that board, you will be notified.
Profile:
You can manage a lot of how the MB behaves for you via your profile. There’s a lot more stowed away here than there was in the previous iteration.
Account Related Settings:
Asking yourself what the hay were you thinking when you typed in that user name?? You can change your display name. Heed the warning that any changes you make here have to be verified by typing in your password in the last field.
You can change your email, but it needs to be a valid one. If we get bounce notices, you’ll be contacted. If there’s no action on your part, your account will be deleted.
You can also make your email hidden from the public by checking the box
You can hide your online status by checking the box
You can also change your password and enter a secret Q to help you retrieve it should you forget it.
Forum Profile Information:
You set your avatar, birthday, location, gender, messenger info, your signature, website info in this area
You don't need to enter a year in the birth date for it to save. When you enter your birthday information, it'll automatically show up in the calendar. Member are encouraged to at least fill in the day and month so we can wish you a Happy Birthday.
Look and Layout Preferences
If there is more than one theme avail on the board, you can choose something other than the default. Take note that other themes might not have all the features as the default.
You can change the time display settings and enter an offset so that the time on the board is set for your time zone.
Beyond that are settings to adjust the look and layout of the board. Mods and Admins can also set a quick moderate option here too to create mod check boxes on the boards for quick mod actions: Show quick-moderation on message index as choose checkboxes.
If the theme supports quick reply, there is also an option for members to enable this. If you have questions about what each option does, just ask.
Notifications and Email:
You can set your notification settings. You can choose to have reply notifications to send you the post in the email. You can also view a listing of everything you have subscribed to.
Personal Message Options
You can set your options of PM notification, manage an ignore list, buddy list and enable save sent msgs to a send box here.
I have also set the option that if you wish, you can delete your account. However, if you do this, there is NO UNDOING it.
Other Features/Settings:
- Other features on the board include a spell check [I’ll try to remember it’s there
], you can add attachments, I’ve added a mod that will let you send pics to be hosted at image shack straight from the board, no registration required.
- Sections are collapsible..meaning if you click on Dragon Gate: Donnie Yen, it will reduce to just the heading and shorten the board display for you
- There is a link up top by your avatar to show new replies to topics you’ve made, unread topics since you’re last visit and a link to view your inbox
- At the bottom of the forum [I’ll try to movie it up top] is a listing of recent topics, there’s a link on the left of that listing that will show the first lines of each new post if you click it.
- The Calendar: as it stands, users can add events, Mods and Admins will edit accordingly if the need arises.
